Late Beatle’s molar has a reserve price of £10,000

A tooth formerly belonging to John Lennon is to be auctioned on November 5.
The ex-Beatle’s molar will be sold at the Omega Auction house in Stockport, and has a reserve price of £10,000.

The tooth was given to Dorothy Jarlett when she worked as Lennon’s housekeeper at his home in Weybridge between 1964-1968.

Jarlett’s son said that his mother, who is now 90, feels the time is right to find the piece of the icon a new home.

Asked who might want to buy a 45-year-old tooth, Omega’s Karen Fairweather said: “We get a lot of people buying memorabilia as investments, or it could just be a fan who really wants a part of John Lennon.”

Fairweather added, given the tooth’s former owner, no one should have any doubt of its authenticity.

The nasher is part of wider vinyl, music and film memorabilia auction, featuring items relating to The Who, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Joy Division, Radiohead and Oasis.

In 2009, a piece of hair thought to have come from the head of Elvis was sold for $18,000 in Chicago.
