Priscilla Presley bans Elvis impersonators from Elvis-themed Las Vegas wedding chapel

Presley’s ex-wife says he ‘had a lot of dignity and class’

Elvis Presley impersonators will be banned at the pop-up Elvis-themed wedding chapel in Las Vegas, the late singer’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley has confirmed.

As previously reported, a new Elvis Presley exhibition will open in Las Vegas later this month (April 23). The city’s Westgate Resort & Casino (where Presley performed over 600 shows) will host the permanent exhibit, which will be known as ‘Graceland Presents Elvis: The Exhibition – The Show – The Experience’.

Hundreds of artefacts never before displayed outside of the famous Graceland mansion in Memphis will be available to view at the site, which will also include a new showroom and the aforementioned wedding chapel dedicated to ‘The King’. Priscilla Presley wed Elvis at a ceremony in Las Vegas in 1967.

“This is all first-class,” Presley told the Associated Press recently, revealing that Elvis impersonators, a common sight in the Nevada city, have been banned from the venue. “This is not a joke. The wedding chapel is not a joke.”

Presley continued: “Elvis had a lot of dignity. Elvis had a lot of class. He was a beautiful specimen of a man.”

David Siegel, CEO of Westgate Resorts, previously said of the exhibition: “Elvis is synonymous with Las Vegas and this property, so we are tremendously excited to have this new attraction and live show here to entertain Las Vegas visitors. It is a true honor to join forces with Elvis Presley’s Graceland to bring Elvis to the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. We are thrilled to have Elvis back in the building.”

For UK fans, ‘Elvis At The O2: The Exhibition Of His Life’ is currently taking place at the O2 in London, showcasing over 300 artefacts from the Presley family’s treasured Graceland archives.

Meanwhile, Jack White was recently revealed as the mystery buyer behind the $300,000 sale of Elvis Presley’s first record. White will reissue the vinyl for Record Store Day on April 18.
