Paul McCartney And Ringo Starr Reach A Billboard Chart For The First Time

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are undoubtedly two of the most iconic and accomplished musicians in the history of the music industry. With their unparalleled contributions to the world of music, it seems they have achieved nearly everything an artist could aspire to. Yet, even after decades of reigning as stars, these legends continue to break records, reach new milestones and etch their names in the annals of music history.

This week, both former members of the iconic band The Beatles achieve a new feat by making their debut appearance on a Billboard chart they have never graced before.

McCartney and Starr earn a noticeable debut on this week’s Hot Trending Songs chart, hitting the tally for the first time. They reach the list with their latest rendition of the timeless classic “Let It Be,” one of the most cherished songs in the Beatles’ repertoire.

This special rendition of the song is a collaboration with three other musical legends: Dolly Parton, Peter Frampton, and Mick Fleetwood. The collective effort brings a fresh twist to the beloved track, resonating with fans old and new. This collaborative rendition of “Let It Be” claims the No. 3 spot on the list.

The Hot Trending Songs chart, introduced by Billboard in recent years, is a weekly ranking that tracks the songs that generate the most discussion on Twitter, now referred to as X…by some. The chart’s inception relatively recently has allowed for esteemed artists, like McCartney and Starr, to appear on it despite potentially not having a significant social media presence or being commonly discussed topics. If something special happens, like this new collaboration, it gives them an opportunity to trend, and thus appear on the list.

“Let It Be,” the reimagined classic, claims an impressive position on the chart, settling in just behind two other tracks that have also captured the attention of listeners worldwide. The No. 1 spot is held by Selena Gomez’s hit “Single Soon,” a tune that’s not even out yet. Jon Batiste and Lil Wayne’s “Uneasy” scores the No. 2 spot.

McCartney and Starr manage to surpass various contemporary artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Hozier Rod Wave, as well as K-pop sensations like StayC, Ateez and NCT Dream.

Parton, the visionary behind the collaboration, brought together McCartney, Starr, Fleetwood, and Frampton to breathe new life into “Let It Be,” which will be featured on Parton’s upcoming album Rockstar. The set is a departure from her traditional country sound, so tunes like this one make perfect sense.

The country legend decided to embark on this ambitious project after her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a recognition that even she fought initially. Rockstar is set to be an eclectic mix of original compositions and covers, boasting a star-studded lineup featuring fellow artists such as Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, Sting, John Fogerty, Elton John, and numerous others. Rockstar is scheduled for a November 17 release, and between then and now, Parton will likely continue to release new tunes from the highly-anticipated project.
